IT DOES MEAN.....
....well it simply means for as long as I am actively devloping a product, I shall continue to provide customers who have purchased earlier versions of that exact product with all updates and upgrades free of charge.

IT DOES NOT MEAN..... .
....That for the rest of my life I will make all my mambo components compatible with all future mambo version no matter what Mambo looks like and no matter what kind of work is involved! That would be plain stupid! Those people who thought this is what it meant, I am sorry for - cause you obviously didnt understand.

I cannot, for the life of me, understand why any one would assume that this would be the case. As a developer I know components will need to be rewritten to work with future mambo versions. Also as my portfolio of new components and new customers grow I have less and less time to support and update older components (when features that they build upon within mambo are even removed from Mambo core!!).

In every industry, in every business things are withdrawn. Unfortunatly things move so fast in Mamboland that the lifecycle is so short.

In the Mambo world, and in the online world things move quickly. it was 12 months ago when I joined the Mambo team and released the first EVER Mambo component (ComboMAX/Shambo2 cant remember which!) - since then mambo has had a lot of releases and more and more components are availabel for mambo - it is stupid to expect that I, the developer with the most commercial components developed for mambo to continue developing ALL of them for the rest of my life!

And then there was Joomla!
