Well since Joomla Forms has been released a lot of people have been asking for some introductory videos to show how the basic principles of Jooml Forms work (Before downloading)
We are pleased to publish three videos, a quick “how to install”, and two 10min long videos that take you through creating a simple contact form with Joomla Forms.

Since the launch of the new template on our site we have had a surprising number or requests for information on how we made that floating menu toolbar on the right of your screen.
It really is nothing special in code, and there are many tutorials on the internet about this.
I have put together a bare HTML page with the CSS and HTML minimum required, you can take a look of the source of this page and disect what you need to replicate the menu system on your site.
You can see the page here:

I was asked today how I manage to keep up with the huge amount of new news about Joomla from the official source and other peoples blogs about Joomla – simple – RSS Feeds and Google Alerts!
Google Alerts:
The google alerts system allows anyone to subscribe to alerts for any keyword, We have several alerts set up with them, keywords for “Joomla”, all our product names and all our competitors names, along with some terms relevant to hacking and security in Joomla. When Google spots a blog post, news item or new web page containing these terms Google emails an update direct to my mailbox. Useful for finding new blogs too!
RSS:
I think most people know what RSS is by now, I’m not going to go too much into it, infact this blog post was more about Google than RSS – just know this, RSS is useful for looking for changes on a small number of websites, I have over 250 RSS feeds and I find filtering out the noise and finding keywords relavant to me and my company very difficult. (We use the sage plugin for firefox since we left behind our windows days and became 100% linux based. On windows we recommend FeedDemon)
No affiliate links in this post – just wanted to help you find relevant information about Joomla.
Many times I am asked what one tool do I use in developing PHP Applications that I cannot do without. Up until recently I would answer and say the Zend studio is by indespensible application.
However Zend now has a rival for my top spot! Bring on FIREBUG!
Firebug is a Firefox Extension for Web developers – I cannot even start to list the features, but the best feature must be the spying on AJAX calls and their responses! We cannot live without this, how did we ever develop applications without it!?
I have been using Firebug for a while now, but today I installed the Beta version – and was completely blown away! This is not a firefox extension for web users, but for we developers – I simply cannot say enough good things about it!
Check out Firebug Beta at: http://www.getfirebug.com/
This project exposes the xAJAX framework functionality to Joomla Components, extensions and plugins by setting up the xAJAX system and allowing it to be extended by one or more Joomla Plugins/Extensions.
This allows 3rd party developers the ability to write stunning applications that incorporate the xAJAX functionality without having to distribute xAJAX along with their components and also prevents conflicts between multiple xAJAX applications.
Our first version is NOW AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD Joomla xAJAX Plugin
This is step one of the solution to allow multiple xAJAX components on a single Joomla site and can be used by developers to ensure there are no conflicts between their components. Developers are encouraged to use this plugin for all their xAJAX components.
Many thanks to Azurl (jomComment Developer) and others for making this FREE release possible!
and I think I found a solution
extending Joomla is so FUN!.
I have written a solution that I think will allow 3rd party developers of Joomla to add mambots to Joomla to provide xAJAX features to their components. I think this could be huge so I have passed on the code to some other developers for feedback and once I have heard from them I will make further announcements
Dear friends.
This email is being sent to all mosListMessenger Customers and relates to a possible security hole in mosLM component. As you may be aware, certain hackers are attempting to hack many Joomla websites through custom components.
mosLM is a custom Joomla Component developed by one of our partner developers (Matt Simpson) and integrated to Joomla by Phil Taylor.
We have been quick to review the components we have developed, within mosLM the original developer had already implemented an internal check that would die if the file was used through a direct url - this has provided good security.
As an additional level of security we have now implmented the Joomla check to see if the file has been included through Joomla. This will provide even better protection.
In our internal review of our components it has come to light the, under very specifc conditions, it may be possible to include nasty files using a specially crafted url to a few specific files in mosLM, which could result in your site being hacked.
We have already addressed these issues within mosLM and you can download the latest version from our site at http://www.phil-taylor.com/cc
You should upgrade your site to Joomla 1.0.10 and upgrade mosListMessenger to the latest files (No version change) as soon as practically possible.
As a custom of ours, we would be happy to upgrade mosListMessenger for you FOR FREE! If you would like to take us up on this offer please fill in the form at http://www.phil-taylor.com/send-request and we will action it as soon as possible.
May I stress that we have not heard of ANY successful hacking attempts through any of our components and we are working behind the scenes to ensure this continues to be the case. We are also providing good advice to other custom Joomla Component developers,
Kindest regards
Phil and the Team at Blue Flame IT Ltd.
On the 1st of next month I will be making payments to my current affiliates. These payments total a lot of money with several affiliates getting paid over GBP£150.00 through PayPal! Thats a lot of money for little work.
The affiliate system is easy and FREE to join, sign up and place links/banners/logos that we provide (or you provide) on your website and when people click those links and purchase from us we will send you 20% of the net value of the transactions (Averages about £4-7 for each transaction – the highest paying joomla affiliate system I believe)
So start earning hard cash today – Join the Phil Taylor Affiliate Program for free – Today!
