This error message seams to be popular again at the moment, so I guess its time to reeducate Joomla users and administrators on the cause of it:
This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots
If you get this message, then you are probably using a third party extension (like bfForms) and you see this message as an error. The solution is very simple. Joomla has a built in (a very basic!) plugin that replaces any email address in Joomla output with a snazzy javascript hiding technique to hide email addresses from spam bots.
All you need to do to resolve the error – is to disable this Joomla Plugin.
We are pleased to make public the SVN repository for the xAJAX Plugin for Joomla 1.5 that is being maintained by a group of developers and co-ordinated by ourselves. This announcement is for PHP Developers only. This version of the plugin is NOT for production use but should be used for testing only.
You can download the files from SVN repository at (Use your forge.joomla.org username and password):
http://scm.joomla.org/svn/repos/xajax4joomla/J15_trunk
These plugin files are almost complete and will not change much, we have left security, loading messages and other things down to individual component developers to implment in their components as this is the better way we think, and allows component developers the best environment in which to develop – basically allowing them to do what ever they want with the xAJAX incoming data instead of us imposing restrictions.
We already have 5 components running on this version of the plugin, and we are very confident in it.
The plugin also sports the very latest SVN version of xAJAX 0.5 – its almost stable and wonderful to use – be sure you read the xAJAX site to note the differences in commands – we will not be implmenting legacy mode as we want to move forward fast! (The Joomla Plugin also doesnt require legacy mode!)
Please provide feedback in the Forum, not in the commenting below.
I want to write this once and once only
Tag/Tags v0.9 is the first release of our xAJAX components that requires and depends on my new project, the
xAJAX Plugin for Joomla.
The reason for this change was to allow other component developers to develop xAJAX applications without conflicting with our own components
In order to run Tag/Tags v0.9 you FIRST need to download and install the xAJAX Plugin For Joomla. You need to install it and make sure the xAJAX for Joomla Plugin/Mambot is PUBLISHED.
Then you can install Tag/Tags v0.9
Tag/Tags v0.9 Will be released within the next 24 hours!
To Upgrade from an earlier Tags/Tags version
To upgrade use the installation check menu item in the Tags component to remove all the patches, mambots and modules and then finally use Joomla Component Installer to remove the tags component completly! (This does not delete your tags or the links to content!!!)
Then install the xajax plugin (details above) and then install Tag/Tags v0.9 making sure to repatch your files and install the modules and mambots using the installation check screen inside the tags component.
This version heralds a huge change in the way components work with xAJAX and leads the way to better integration in the future.
Also! Tag/Tags v0.9 has FULL LANGUAGE SUPPORT! It contains a language file that you can change easily to translate the component
Cool!
Tag/Tags v0.9 Will be released within the next 24 hours!
This project exposes the xAJAX framework functionality to Joomla Components, extensions and plugins by setting up the xAJAX system and allowing it to be extended by one or more Joomla Plugins/Extensions.
This allows 3rd party developers the ability to write stunning applications that incorporate the xAJAX functionality without having to distribute xAJAX along with their components and also prevents conflicts between multiple xAJAX applications.
Our first version is NOW AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD Joomla xAJAX Plugin
This is step one of the solution to allow multiple xAJAX components on a single Joomla site and can be used by developers to ensure there are no conflicts between their components. Developers are encouraged to use this plugin for all their xAJAX components.
Many thanks to Azurl (jomComment Developer) and others for making this FREE release possible!
